REACH telemedicine solutions are being used in hospitals across the country. Many telemedicine networks that began with telestroke programs are currently expanding to leverage multi-discipline applications. We've profiled an operating hub and spoke partner hospital.
The Medical University of South Carolina
REACH MUSC was created in 2008 and serves 15 spoke hospitals across South Carolina. Their telestroke network helps to provide over 76% of the state's population to be within a one-hour drive of a certified stroke center where patients can receive tPA treatment.
- Approximately 2000 REACH consults to date
- 21% of consults have resulted in tPA treatment
- 34% of the REACH consults were transferred to MUSC, of which 8% received advanced techniques which are only available at MUSC
MUSC provides valuable feedback to the REACH development team and has been a model for telemedicine network success.
